Lapua, a global leader in premium rimfire ammunition for competitive shooting, is proud to announce the renewal of its partnership with U.S. Biathlon as the organization’s official ammunition supplier. Based in Midway, Utah U.S. Biathlon was founded in 1980 and has partnered with Lapua for many years in support of athlete performance at the highest level.

Biathlon is a unique winter sport that combines the physical demands of cross-country skiing with the precision of rifle marksmanship. Athletes compete while carrying a smallbore .22 LR rifle that must meet a minimum weight requirement of 3.5 kg (7.7 lbs). During competition, athletes engage five targets at a distance of 50 meters (55 yards), firing five rounds from either the prone or standing position, where accuracy and consistency are critical.

“U.S. Biathlon is proud to continue our partnership with Lapua as our official ammunition supplier for the upcoming quadrennial,” said Tim Burke, Director of Athlete Development for U.S. Biathlon. “In a sport where medals are decided by seconds and centimeters, having absolute confidence in our equipment is essential. Lapua provides that confidence, and we look forward to another Olympic cycle with our athletes competing with the world’s best ammunition.”

“We are honored to continue our partnership with the U.S. Biathlon Team,” said Adam Braverman, Vice President of Marketing at Lapua. “Supporting athletes who demand absolute performance aligns perfectly with our commitment to excellence and precision.”

Lapua Ballistics App has just received an update designed to smarter customization, expanded language support, and improved feedback tools. The 2026 update brings a set of thoughtful improvements designed to make the app even more intuitive, flexible, and user‑friendly. Whether you use the app for detailed trajectory modeling or simply want the most accurate 6DOF‑based calculations available, this update enhances the experience in meaningful ways.

New app features

Twist rate direction

Users can now define twist rate direction in two ways:

  • By tapping the new directional icon, which visually indicates clockwise (right‑hand) or counter‑clockwise (left‑hand) twist
  • Or by entering a positive or negative value, just like before

This dual‑input approach makes the setup process smoother and more accessible, especially for users who prefer visual controls.

Twist rate minimum value

The minimum twist rate value has been updated from ±5 to ±3, offering more flexibility when configuring custom setups. This enhancement supports a wider range of modeling scenarios and gives users more control over their data inputs.

Swedish language support added

The Lapua Ballistics App is now available in Swedish, expanding the app’s support to nine languages. Users can select Swedish under:

Menu → Set units / Settings

This addition strengthens accessibility for Nordic users and continues the app’s commitment to broad international support.

Enhanced feedback channel for better support

The feedback system has been upgraded to help streamline troubleshooting and customer service. When sending feedback through the app, the following optional information is now automatically included at the end of the email:

  • App software version
  • Device type
  • Operating system
  • Country
  • Language variant

Users remain fully in control — this information can be removed before sending if preferred. The feedback channel is located under:

Menu → Send feedback

Download the Lapua Ballistics App

The Lapua Ballistics App is available free of charge for both major mobile platforms, Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Simply search for “Lapua Ballistics” in your device’s app store to install the latest version.

Lapua, Vihtavuori and Berger, known for their world-class brass, ammunition, reloading powders and bullets, are proud to announce they will be a Platinum sponsor for the 2025 GBFCA European F-Class Championships, taking place from Tuesday 2nd to Sunday 7th September. The 2025 ‘Euros’ will be the largest F-Class event ever to be held at the world-famous Stickledown range at the Bisley Camp in the UK, the home of the National Rifle Association of the UK since 1890.

The Championships are expected to bring more than 400 top shooters (from over 20 countries) to compete in F/TR and F-Open classes. The event consists of both individual and team matches at 800, 900 and 1,000 yards daily aggregates, and Grand Aggregates on Friday and Saturday.

With the ‘Euros’ taking place less than 12 months before the 2026 F-Class World Championships, also at Bisley, the organisers are expecting an incredibly high level of competition. The world’s top shooters are taking this timely opportunity to experience the famous Stickledown range as part of their preparations for 2026.

The European F-Class Championship event is run by the GB F-Class Association. “We’re really thrilled to extend our partnership with these top brands as main sponsors. Working together to create this successful event strengthens the shooting community and offers great development opportunities for our sport”, comments Richard Jones, Chairman of the G.B.F.C.A committee.

“The GBFCA European F-Class Championships is one of the world’s long-range shooting highlights. We’re excited and proud to support this event that brings together the world’s top F-class shooters”, states Vihtavuori, Lapua and Berger Sales & Marketing Manager Olof Borgstrom. Vihtavuori, Lapua and Berger are commercial brands part of Nammo Group, a leading supplier of high-quality ammunition for military, law enforcement, and sports use.

Sponauer brings a long and accomplished competitive shooting background to Mesa’s Lapua Rimfire Performance center. He started with three-position and prone at the age of 14 under David and Deb Lyman at The Blue Trail range in Wallingford, CT, where he won numerous state and regional matches. Sponauer, who graduated from the University of North Georgia, shot for their NCAA 3-P and Air Rifle teams, served as multi-year team captain, and managed lot testing ammunition for the team. Sponauer and the team went on to win the 2021 Southern Conference Championship.

“I am very excited to give back to the shooting community with this position because the sport has given me so much,” commented Sponauer. “The lot testing we offer gives any shooter a significant competitive edge allowing them to compete to their maximum potential.”

Patterned after the world-renowned Lapua Test Center in Germany, both the Marengo, OH, and Mesa, AZ Lapua Rimfire Performance Centers provide shooters the opportunity to test multiple lots of ammunition under tightly controlled conditions. Each of the Lapua Rimfire Performance Centers offer the unique ability to test ammunition at both 50 and 100 meters, simultaneously. By comparing the results of various ammunition lots at both distances, the best performing lots will offer a distinct competitive advantage. This allows for higher scores and more hits on target for a customer’s chosen discipline. For more information on the Lapua Rimfire Performance Centers or to schedule an appointment, please visit rimfiretest.com.

We are very pleased to announce Ryan Sponauer as the new Lapua Rimfire Performance Center Manager in Mesa, AZ.

To better serve our Lapua Club members and consumers purchasing our premium ammunition products, we are re-developing the Lapua Club. This means that beginning January 2024, there will no longer be a need to register products in the Lapua Club on the Lapua Club website using a product specific club code. Instead, Lapua Club news and giveaways will be available via the lapua.com site on a dedicated Lapua Club page. The new Lapua Club will feature special swag giveaways, Club member picture competitions and much more! We will share more information about the new Lapua Club to Lapua Club members during the end of year 2023.

As this change will take place at the beginning of the year, the change is gradually taking place and thus, new Lapua packaging from August 2023 onwards will no longer be featuring the separate Lapua Club code.
