Team Lapua shooter Erich Mietenkorte demonstrated remarkable consistency over the weekend of August 23-24 at the Pe Ell Sportsman’s Club in Pe Ell, Washington. His victory completes a sweep of all four 2025 Washington State Rifle Silhouette Championships, following his two High Power Championship wins earlier in August.

The town of Pe Ell, Washington, is a familiar name in silhouette circles. Tucked away in the rolling timber country of the Pacific Northwest, the Pe Ell Sportsman’s Club has long been a gathering place for competitors who embrace the challenge of the four iconic steel animals: chickens at 40 meters, pigs at 60, turkeys at 77, and rams at a distant 100 meters.

Saturday’s competition featured the Standard Rifle Championship. Mietenkorte posted a 37×40 in his first 40-shot match and followed it with a 38×40 in the second, earning him the championship with a winning aggregate score of 75×80.

He produced a 35×40 in the morning match and posted a 37×40 in the afternoon. His 72×80 aggregate score was enough to secure the Hunting Rifle title and complete his smallbore sweep at Pe Ell.

Team Lapua Shooter Keith Trapp secured first place in the F-T/R National Championship portion of the F-Class National Championship, achieving an impressive aggregate score of 1558-58X. This marks Trapp’s second F-Class National Championship victory, solidifying his reputation as a top competitor. Trapp won his first F-Class Long Range title in 2022, and his first Mid-Range title in 2023.

The Winnequah Gun Club in Lodi, Wisconsin, hosted the NRA F-Class National Championships from August 2nd to 9th, attracting top-tier competitors. This premier event is divided into two main categories: F-Open and F-TR, each with specific equipment and caliber rules. The championship utilizes ShotMarker Electronic Target Systems for real-time scoring at both Mid-Range (600 yards) and Long-Range (1,000 yards).

“I’m incredibly proud of this win,” said Trapp. “The competition was fierce, but my equipment, particularly the Berger bullets, Vihtavuori powder, and Lapua cases, performed flawlessly, giving me the confidence I needed to perform at my best. It’s truly an honor to win this title for a second time.”

Keith Trapp’s confidence was significantly aided by his choice of ammunition. He relied on Berger 200.20X bullets, propelled by Vihtavuori N150 powder, loaded into Lapua .308 Win Palma cases. This winning combination allowed Trapp to achieve his impressive 1558-58X aggregate score.

At the F-Class National Championships, Team USA FTR Vortex, coached by Trapp, achieved a notable 5th place finish. The team included Tracy Hogg, Drew Rutherford, Ian Klemm, and Lapua member Luke Ramsey.

Trapp is set to compete this September on the international stage at the upcoming European F-Class Nationals.

In a stunning display of precision and composure, Team Lapua’s Brandon Green etched his name into fullbore rifle history by claiming the coveted King’s Prize—becoming the first American ever to do so in the 156-year history of the event. Green posted an aggregate of 299-41V, dropping just a single point across 30 shots, including a 75-11V at 900 yards and a 75-10V at 1000 yards during the final stages.

Held from June 13 to July 26, the 156th Imperial Meeting is the crown jewel of the UK National Rifle Association’s annual calendar, hosted at the iconic Bisley Camp in Surrey, England. The King’s Prize—originally the Queen’s Prize, first awarded by Queen Victoria in 1860—draws elite fullbore target rifle shooters from around the globe, each vying to inscribe their name in one of the sport’s most prestigious ledgers.

Green’s campaign was nothing short of dominant, racking up victories in the Friday Aggregate, Monday Aggregate, Tucker Aggregate, Baldwin Aggregate, and Monro Memorial Match en route to the final King’s Stages.

“I completed the 900-yard stage with a 75-11v, which moved me up quite a bit, though I didn’t check the scores, so I had no idea of my standing. After finishing the 1000-yard stage with a 75-10v, I heard a few soft claps from the crowd behind me. However, I still had to score two more shots for my point mate. After he finished his remaining shots, I finally turned to look at the crowd, and Oliver was almost in tears as he exclaimed, ‘You did it!’ I still couldn’t believe I could have made up that much ground, but somehow, the stars had aligned. And that’s when the excitement truly began!”

Green’s historic win culminated in a traditional celebration—being “chaired” off the firing line on the shoulders of fellow competitors, marking milestone on Bisley’s storied scoreboard.
